It was eye-opening to see the New America Foundation’s report on “The Real Face of Terrorism”. Not because it held water as an argument, but because it was blatantly obvious as a propaganda piece.
It was covered all across the board, by Mint Press News, Time Magazine, Huffington Post – London, Washington Times, Al Jazeera, the New York Times, and US Uncut. The only outlet to come close to tackling the controversy was Inquir.io, but even they weren’t able to disseminate the issue fully other than pointing out that the US Census allows people of Middle Eastern descent to declare themselves “White”.
To that end, I too have analyzed the data and what has resulted is far from the author’s original verdict that White men are responsible for more murderous acts of homegrown in America.
The Flaws of The New America Foundation’s “Case Study”:
Jihadists, even if they are born in America or have become naturalized American citizens, commit acts of terror unlike any other group before them. This is specifically because the Saudi Arabian government has set up various front organizations designed to instill within their adherents Anti-American, Islamofascist ideologies.
However, this narrative falls apart when considering any act of terrorism, such as recruiting, aiding and abetting, training overseas, or providing a “space space” for radicalization. This study’s conclusion (and the mainstream media) also doesn’t acknowledge all the close encounters between police investigators, and their ability to stop crimes from proceeding in the first place. Or the notion that many jihadists are international in scope, embroiled in international crime syndicates: For example, Australian David Hicks, alias Muhammed Dawood, detained in Guantanamo Bay for aiding al-Qaeda, is not mentioned in the study. Or Muriel Degauque, notable for being one of the most famous Islamic suicide bombing converts in Europe…
“Eighty-one U.S. residents were linked to Islamic extremist plots and other activity in 2015. This is nearly triple the total of each of the past two years: 28 individuals living in the U.S. were linked to such terrorism in all of 2014 and 22 in 2013.”
It is extremely telling when many of the people (who have thus been accused of terrorism and sentenced) were under sting investigations led by the NYPD and the FBI. While the study doesn’t acknowledge terror plots against Americans abroad (preferring to instead focus on domestic attacks), many of the suspects therein were arrested for just that – conspiring to attack American civilians and troops, at home and abroad.
To that end, it is absolutely disgusting that the “establishment” journalists (many of which we know were in the pockets of the Democratic National Party), all of whom pretend to fight for truth, liberty, and the anti-Trump way, would wholeheartedly conceal the truth behind the narrative.
It is a psychosis of the Left.
Presenting misleading “evidence” while framing it as the narrative of “truth”, especially when it is your job to be a “truth peddler”, should mean that you are blacklisted from the industry wholesale. But we don’t live in such a rational world, especially when the Obama Administration removes records of radical known jihadis from the ledgers, as found out in an investigative hearing led by Sen. Ted Cruz.
In this article, I will only focus on two groups of suspects, 1) Non-Arab Muslim converts (White, Black, Asian, etc) who commit terrorist acts in the name of Islam, 2) jihadi terrorists affiliated with Muslim Student Associations (American or otherwise).
A) The Jihadist Information War:
The open secret in the Islamic world is that Islam isn’t a religion, it’s a way of life. A political ideology that expands on everything from the state to the classrooms. It is essentially communism in disguise. Advocating for Sharia Law is just the beginning. Watchdogs may decry the notion that the Women’s Marches in D.C. were spearheaded by Sharia Law supporters, but that’s really only the beginning.
It’s also the beginning of the end, because the very institutions that control the flow of Islamic ideologies have been here for nearly three decades at the very least. Timeliness aside, we have the data to prove it, thanks to the (heavily flawed) New America Foundation study:
The authors “confuse” the notion of race and religion. Simply put, a Muslim is a Muslim is a Muslim. White, Black, Asian – race doesn’t matter. The distinction is whether they shill for Islamic jihadi terrorists. In fact, they don’t like to be referred to as “converted Muslims”, rather as “New Muslims”.
To further imply that terrorist actions can be divided by simple notions of race and gender is at worst, pushing an agenda, and at best, misguided. Either way, real counter-terrorism experts (like the ones hired to complete the study) would have known the difference between the two, and why there is no difference at all.
The dataset, in and of itself, was sloppy – “race” wasn’t controlled for, entries were based on race rather than converted aliases, and physical networks (and their institutions) weren’t considered. Everything that would have made a difference in the distinction of the verdict was ignored. Hilariously, one of there data entries is “#338. Unnamed South Carolina Teen”, but I digress.
B) “New Muslims”
The following is a short list of data entries that were not known by their Islamic alias:
Lionel Nelson Williams’s alias was Harun Ash-Shababi. He tried to kill a police officer in the name of Islam, for ISIS.
Richard Reid’s alias was Abdul Rahim. He is the infamous shoe bomber.
Aaron Travis Daniels, whom attempted to join ISIS, had an alias of Harun Muhammad and Abu Yusuf.
Emmanuel Lutchman was a convert to Islam, and attempted a machete attack in New York City, in the name of ISIS.
Zachary Chesser’s alias was Abu Talhah al-Amrikee, He threatened to kill the creators of South Park for depicting the prophet Mohammed.
Christopher Lee Cornell’s alias was Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah. His goal was to attack the US Capitol, in an effort to fulfil his holy duty in becoming a Muslim warrior.
Jesse Curtis Morton, alias Younus Abdullah Muhammed, was a conspirator with Chesser.
Justin Nojan Sullivan was a convert to Islam, and plotted an attack that would have killed 1000 people had the FBI not intervened.
Sebastian Gregerson‘s, an ISIS sympathizer, had an alias of Abdurrahman Bin Mikaayl.nicholas
It is unknown what Nicholas Young’s Islamic alias was, however it is known he had converted to Islam prior.
Mark Robert Walker, also known as “Abdullah”, was arrested for conspiring to aid Somalian terrorist group Ittihad al Islamiyya.
Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, also known as “Jihad Jamie”, was arrested for conspiring to join Al-Qaeda.
Edward Archer, alias unknown, tried to kill a police officer in the name of Islam.
It is unknown what Alex Hernandez’s alias was, in that he was fresh out of prison (and there seems to be widespread silence from the media in this regard), but he wanted to assassinate Obama in order to fulfil his duty as a Muslim holy warrior. Prisons infamously are massive conversion centers for Islam.
Eric Jamal Hendricks’s alias was Mustafa Abu Maryam. He is also notable for being Ramy Zamzam’s mentor in University. He is also notable for introducing an undercover FBI agent to one of the Draw Mohammed Day attackers.
In fact, in the ongoing investigation against Hendricks, another Islamic convert, Robert McCollum (also known as Amir Said Abdul Rahman Al-Ghazi) testified against him.
Interestingly, while Michelle Marie Bastian didn’t change her name, her husband did convert to Islam in prison, and she was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting his terrorist acts (she was sending him ISIS magazines in prison).
Jason Michael Ludke’s aliases were Muhammad Nassir, Muhammad Abdun Naasir Al-Hannafi and Abuz Sayyaf.
His partner-in-crime, Yosvany Padilla-Conde, had aliases of both Saadiq Ibn Abbas and Saadiq Padilla.
Russell Defreitas, an Islamic convert, attempted to bomb JFK airport.
Stanley Grant Phanor, a convert to Islam known as “Brother Sunni”, attempted to bomb the Sears Tower in Chicago. The attempt was infiltrated by the FBI.
Adam Dandach, also known as Fadi Fadi Dandach, was arrested for attempting to aid ISIS.
Shelton Thomas Bell, an Islamic convert, was arrested for attempting to join al-Qaeda.
Samuel Rahamin Topaz converted from Judaism to Islam, before attempting to recruit others to attack the White House.
Enrique Marquez, an Islamic convert, transported rifles to the San Bernadino shooters.
Shannon Maureen Conley, alias Halima Conley, converted to Islam and attempted to travel to Syria to aid ISIS.l
Michael Todd Wolfe, who called himself “Faruq”, was arrested on terrorism charges after conspiring to recruit for ISIS.
James Gonzalo Medina, also known as James Muhammed, converted to Islam before attempting to fire-bomb a Jewish Synagogue.
Will Skelton, also known as Abdul Raheem Habil Ali-Skelton, attempted to join ISIS before being picked up by the FBI.
Randall Todd Royer, also known as “Ismail” Royer, a CAIR civil rights director, was arrested in 2004 on federal explosives/weapons charges. While this article is not about CAIR, they are just as bad as the Muslim Students Association, and have been listed as a terrorist group by the United Arab Emirates.
Seifullah Chapman was born Bruce Chapman, and was an Islamic convert from the Marine Corps. He was arrested for plotting being part of the Virginia Jihad Network. Another member, Donald Surratt, was a former US Veteran previously deployed (and converted) in Somalia.
John T Booker converted to Islam and joined the US Army. He later expressed a desire for jihad.
David Seth Franey, alias Abu Dawuud, attempted to kill his fellow soldiers in the name of Islam.
Craig Baxam, also a former US soldier, was sentenced to seven years in prison for trying to aid al-Shabaab.
John Walker Lindh, one of the most famous American jihadi-soldiers abroad, had two aliases: Sulayman al-Faris, and Abu Sulayman al-Irlandi. Incidentally, it is from his case that Americans even realized that the problem transcended race and wasn’t bound to religion!
While it’s easy to assume that these recent arrests are the result of homegrown jihadis, all-American terror, the network that recruited them was laid in place decades ago on an international scope. Terrorists count on the ignorance of American politicians to ensure their terror networks stay alive.
Even in modernity, it is not relegated to American shores, as the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) has dispatched numerous operatives from the Middle East to the Phillipines as a means of causing deadly civil unrest:
What is most alarming is not just that these charities remain operating, but the militancy of their converts. Since the regeneration of the ASG as a bona fide terrorist organization in the start of 2004, Muslim converts have played key roles in every attack, attempted attack or operation…
See, the New America Foundation only accounts for “terrorism plots” after 9/11, as if that metric has any meaning. We now know, thanks to the Carter Cables, that Islamic jihad as it pertains to the West goes back as far as the 90s.
With the “talent” they hire, so should the New America Foundation.
In fact, in reporting, this is a common tactic to twist the data to represent the pre-determined cause you seek to portray. However, in the following research, you’ll see evidence of Islamic terrorism with roots in the 60s Americana, meaning that many of the names below will not have been from their list. Again, the New America Foundation implies that Islamist terror in America is always homegrown, but it has been birthed of an international effort.
The History of International Islamic Terror Funding Networks in America:
Enablement of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective and stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims’ causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims’ efforts, presents Islam as a civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic state, wherever it is.
In order for Islam and its Movement to become “a part of the homeland” in which it lives, “stable” in its land, “rooted” in the spirits and minds of its people, “enabled” in the live [sic] of its society and has firmly-established “organizations” on which the Islamic structure is built and with which the testimony of civilization is achieved, the Movement must plan and struggle to obtain “the keys” and the tools of this process in carry [sic] out this grand mission as a “Civilization Jihadist” responsibility which lies on the shoulders of Muslims and – on top of them – the Muslim Brotherhood in this country.
The process of settlement is a “Civilization-Jihadist Proecess” with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim’s destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahedeen be equal.
According to Reporter Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center: “The Brotherhood’s American arm indeed believes in launching a “Grand Jihad” to Islamize America. Its final phase calls for “Seizing power to establish their Islamic Nation” in the United State”.
While the Muslim Brotherhood is rather popular on the world stage, for those not in the geopolitical “know”, the Jamaati Islami movement (a brother-in-arms of the terrorist underground) was founded by Abul Ala Maududi – the founding Islamist philosopher advocating for the movement of a Pakistani Islamic State – they also have splinter groups in India, Britain, Kashmir, Mauritius, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The movement was created in response to the Partition of India in 1947, after the British Empire withdrew, against all Muslims who did not wish to form a Caliph upon succession.
As a result, they are seen as a “mouthpiece” for the SA government, and are generally not taken seriously, at least on an objective level. However, what should be taken seriously is their funding and founding towards the International Islamic Relief Organization – which has had numerous accusations levelled against it for dealing in terrorist activities.
According to the Federal Document Clearing House Congressional Testimony 1 Aug. 2002, the Kenyan Government banned the IIRO following the 1998 United States embassy bombings.
In relation to the Afghani jihad against the Soviet Union, the IIRO NGO was also implicated (along with 19 other NGOs) as receiving funds from what would later be known as al-Qaeda, channelled through two banks – clearly this was a form of money laundering.
The banks were Dar al Mal al Islami, now known as DMI Trust, and Dalia al Baraka, now known as Dallah Al-Baraka. The banks were set up, respectively, by Saudi Prince Mohammed al Faisal and Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, both of whom have been accused of financing al-Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks and both of whom are seen as some of the pioneers of Islamic Banking in general. With his vast empire of self-made financial networks, Kamel has been called “the father of contemporary Islamic finance”.
One of the IIRO’s chapters in the Philippines (and later in Indonesia) were helmed by Osama Bin Laden’s brother (which isn’t much of a stretch relatively-speaking, given that Osama was related to the Saudi Royal Family). His brother, Khalifa, was alleged to have funnelled money to numerous terrorist groups under his purview such as Abu Sayyaf, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and al-Qaeda.
According to the Philippines National Security Advisor, Roilo Golez, Khalifa “built up the good will of the community through charity and then turned segments of the population into agents”.
Amongst other organizations, Khalifa established the “International Relations and Information Center”, which served as the “primary funding mechanism” for the attempted “Bojinka plot” of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi Yousef to assassinate Pope Paul II and blow up eleven American jetliners (killing some 4000 passengers and bringing air travel to a standstill) in early 1995. Khalid Sheik Mohammed is also notable for being a member at the North Carolina A&T MSA in 1986.
KSM has played a major role in every Al Qaeda attack between 1993 and 2003. Besides for planning the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, KSM is known to have helped plan the USS Cole bombings, bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, the 1993 World Trade Center attack, the failed terrorist attack of shoe bomber Richard Reid… In his interrogations with CIA officials, KSM also claims responsibility for decapitating American journalist Daniel Pearl.
A defector from the Abu Sayyaf terror group told authorities, “the IIRO was behind the construction of mosques, school buildings and other livelihood projects”, but only “in areas penetrated, highly influenced and controlled by the Abu Sayyaf”. According to the defector, “only 10 to 30% of the foreign funding goes to the legitimate relief and livelihood projects and the rest go to terrorist operations.”
Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri was also accused of enlisting recruits of the terror group Egyptian Jihad to the IIRO’s inner ranks, of which IIRO has denied. However, the IIRO also founded (in 1988) the Rabita Trust (RT), with “the aim of organising the repatriation and rehabilitation of stranded Pakistanis from Bangladesh”.
Their secretary-general, Wael Hamza Jalaidan (and former University of Arizona MSA president) was also Bin Laden’s logistics commander against the Soviet Troops in Afghanistan (and thus is considered a co-founder of al-Qaeda), and was temporarily the head of not only the Muslim World League, but also of the Saudi Red Crescent Society (Islam’s response to the Red Cross Organization) -whose symbol they deem offensive, even though Jesus is considered a prophet within Islam.
Eventually, the IIRO was cast aside in funding priorities by the Islamic Wisdom Worldwide Mission, one of two main parties involved in Balik Islam – a Salafi offshoot which advocates for terrorism worldwide in their establishment of an Ummah (sounds like ISIS, no?). The other party is funded by a former leader of the group, who was forced out due to terrorism allegations.
A) Muslim Students Associations – A History:
If you’re Muslim and live in one of the Westernized nations, when you arrive for college (should you take that career route), there’s a chance your college or university will have an Islamic activist organization designed to cater to your religious affections. There’s also a strong chance that the organization in question will be the Muslim Students Association, part of the MSA National organization, which serves as a subsidiary for the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). They are sometimes, but less often, known as Muslim American Societies.
ISNA is meant for those unable to be affiliated with the MSA, as the former is meant for those out of college, while the latter is meant for those still enrolled in college. ISNA was established within the MSA in 1963 the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, but received their corporate independence in 1982, at the behest of four organizations – The Muslim Students Association of the US and Canada (The MSA), Islamic Medical Association (IMA), the Association of Muslim Social Scientists (AMSS), and the Association of Muslim Scientists and Engineers (AMSE) – in order to create a community-oriented organization due to the changing nature of the growing Muslim community. The first MSA chapter was established in Emory University, in 1986.
As innocent as they seem, however, they serve as Islamic hotbeds for radicalization of our nation’s youths:
“The Muslim Students Association has been a virtual terror factory,” said Poole. “Time after time after time again, we see these terrorists — and not just fringe members: these are MSA leaders, MSA presidents, MSA national presidents — who’ve been implicated, charged and convicted in terrorist plots.”
However, it’s important to distinguish between a correlation and a causation. Just because the MSA is financed by numerous Islamist-jihadi, money-laundering, government-sanctioned terror group “charities”, with links to some of the deadliest plots in world history (especially in the Philippines), doesn’t mean that all of what is funded is necessarily considered terrorist fodder.
After all, in the Islamic world, it is often claimed that nearly everyone has extremist affiliations, so there is a chance that the MSA merely shares the same opinions as the Saudi Arabian government (and all the extremists therein) but has nothing to do with actual terrorist plots, either domestically or abroad…right…right?
Sadly, this isn’t the case.
The founding mission statement of the Muslim Students Association was “a self-definition [that] involves initially and fundamentally [an] Islamic identity” of its members, as well as an appropriate Islamic lifestyle while they were in the US. They consider themselves to be the authoritative voices of Islam on college campuses, representing the voices of their generations.
The University of California Irvine Muslim Student Union chapter has been accused of antisemitic behaviour in the past, and was suspended in 2010 for a year.
Ahmed Shama, president of the UCLA’s MSA, was quoted as saying, at a rally, “Victory to Islam! Death to the Jews! Our solution is simple…Our solution is the establishment of justice by Islamic means”.
The MSA, as a national student group, does not have a reputation for moderation in religion. MSA was founded in 1963 by the Muslim World League (MWL) and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), two Saudi-based entities then in the full flush of Wahhabi expansionism. In 1982, MSA’s foreign backers launched the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which continues to represent fundamentalist doctrine even as its president, Ingrid Mattson, was a featured participant in the Obama inauguration.
One of the founders, Dr. Hisham Al Talib, not only co-founded the MSA, but also the SAAR Foundation.which was shut down by the FBI after Operation GreenQuest – accusing the group of sending money to such groups as Hamas:
Another founder of the MSA was Jamal Barzinji, who, in 1991 was also the founder of the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Virginia. This is, notably, the same mosque attended by the Fort Hood Shooter.
According to a 2008 New York Times report, right from the outset the MSA received its funding and direction from Saudi Arabia. The MSA and ISNA were products of the Saudi Wahhabi-run Muslim World League, a Saudi NGO with a history of ties to Jihadist terrorism. In fact, the MSA was the first effort in America by the Saudis to establish Islamic organizations around the world to promote Wahhabi Islam, the strain of Islam that would eventually give birth to Al Qaeda.
It is thus no wonder that this organization was investigated heavily by the NYPD and the FBI.
B) The NYPD/FBI Investigations:
In rationalizing their monitoring activities, the NYPD noted they followed the same rules as the FBI. The universities involved in the student monitoring included Yale, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse, New York University, Clarkson University, the Newark and New Brunswick campuses of Rutgers, and the State University of New York campuses in Buffalo, Albany, Stony Brook and Potsdam, Queens College, Baruch College, Brooklyn College and La Guardia Community College.
“In 2002, Operation GreenQuest, a federal interagency task force, raided a network of radical Islamist institutions in Herndon, Va. The GreenQuest investigation has yet to be concluded, but Sami Al-Arian, who pled guilty in 2006 to assisting Palestinian Islamic Jihad, remains under house arrest since he has refused to testify as a grand jury witness in the case of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), a major subject of the GreenQuest inquiry.
“The process for becoming a Muslim chaplain for any branch of the U.S. military, currently involves two separate phases. First, individuals must complete religious education and secondly, they must receive an ecclesiastical endorsement from an approved body. As several recent media reports have noted, federal investigators long have suspected key groups in the chaplain program – the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GSISS) the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council (AMAFVAC), and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) – of links to terrorist organizations.”
The common theme of former veterans converting to Islam to wage jihad on the West should not be ignored; regardless of the lack of their affiliations with the Muslim Student Associations (many went to the army over college), radical soldiers are a disturbing threat to the Western world. This is because the entire US military-Muslim chaplaincy program was spear-headed by Muhammed Alamoudi:
“Alamoudi is presently in jail on federal terrorism-related charges. He was arrested in late September 2003 at Dulles International Airport after British law-enforcement authorities stopped him with $340,000 in cash that he was trying to take to Syria. U.S. officials allege that the money may have been destined for Syrian-based terrorist groups to attack Americans in Iraq. Charges include illegally receiving money from the Libyan government, passport and immigration fraud, and other allegations of supporting terrorists abroad and here in the United States.”
According to CBN news, Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was also the national president of the MSA during the 1980s, was al Qaeda’s top fundraiser in America and is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence, with ties to Osama Bin Laden.
While this may be ruled as unconstitutional, there are precedents of student terrorism. Numerous affiliates of the Muslim Students Association have been linked to terrorist plots, both attempted and otherwise in the past couple of decades:
Aafia Siddiqui, of MIT’s MSA, is currently serving 86 years for attempting to murder US officials in her capacity as a Pakistani al-Qaeda operative. Considered a martyr in Pakistan for her actions, during her enrolment at MIT, she also helped fundraise for a terrorist group Al-Kifah Refugee Center — a known Al Qaeda money-laundering front tied to Osama bin Laden and the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing. She also, in addition to being a member of the Muslim Student Association, wrote a guide for the MSA on adhering to hardline Islamic doctrine. It is alleged she was indoctrinated by Osama Bin Laden’s mentor – Abdullah Azzam.
Altaf Husain, leader of the Pakistani MQM Party, “former two-term national president of the Muslim Students Association, and current executive committee member of the Muslim Alliance in North America”, has been alleged of inciting murder and violence in his home country.
Tarek Mahanna conspired to attack civilians at a shopping mall. It is alleged he was a member of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science’s Muslim Student Association, or at the very least had represented himself as such.
Syed Maaz Shah attempted to travel to Pakistan to fight American soldiers. He was the secretary for the University of Texas’s Muslim Student Association.surr
Syed Hashmi was arrested on suspicion of aiding al-Qaeda operatives. It was heavily alleged by the FBI that Syed was a member of Brooklyn College’s Muslim Student Assocation, since he was drawn into surveillance operation led by FBI agents. However, Hashmi’s connections to Islamic terror group al-Mujahiroun, along with fellow partner Mohammed Junaid Babar, are well-known.
Syed Haris Ahmed, a member of Georgia Tech’s MSA, was arrested after attempting to coordinate a terror plot with Canadian jihadis to target American military bases and oil refineries.
Muhammed Al-Gurashi, a foreign student at Arizona State University and former President of their MSA, was arrested and deported back to Saudi Arabia. He was arrested for possessing illegal firearms, and was investigated by the FBI for plotting to assassinate former President George W Bush.
Confirming this information, on October 28, 1974, the “Cultural Society, Inc.” was registered as a Missouri Benevolent Corporation with the following officers and board members: Ahmed Elkadi (president), Mohammed Shamma (vice-president and NAIT incorporator), Mohammed Jaghlit (treasurer), Rabi Ahmad (board member, MSA secretary-general in 1979, and a neurosurgeon at the University of Missouri), and Mozaffar Partowmah (Iranian-born Sunni board member, one-time MSA president, and a radiologist).
At some point, the Chicago Tribune reported that Elkadi served as the president of NAIT, further suggesting that NAIT was, in essence, the investment vehicle for the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.
A prolific speaker, Siraj Wahhaj has been known to the authorities for decades, and has been linked to the Islamic Relief Canada and the Queen’s College MSA. He is on record as advocating for establishment of Sharia Law and a Caliphate in America, stating:
“You should remember that if you get involved in politics, you have to be very careful that your leader is for Allah. You don’t get involved in politics because it’s the American thing to do. You get involved in politics because politics are a weapon to use in the cause of Islam.”
It is interesting then that in 1991, he became the first Muslim to recite the Opening Prayer of the Qur’an (al-Fatiha) at the US House of Representatives!
Additionally, Brandon Mayfield, an Islamic-converted lawyer for The Portland Seven, was arrested for leaving evidence behind in the 2004 Madrid Train Bombings. He had also provided financial support for the members as well.
Ahmed Said Khadr, once affiliated with the University of Ottawa, was an associate of two co-founders of al-Qaeda. While he died in 2003 (in a Pakistani shootout with the local police), his legacy lives on in the form of his son, Omar. Alleged to have funded al-Qaeda, after his death his family relocated to Mississauga. His family maintains his innocence, with a website that decrees his terrorist legacy as a lie and that he always was an aide worker.
Yahiye Adam Gadahn, former spokesman for Al-Qaeda, was a Muslim Student Association member at the University of Southern California. His testimonial regarding his conversion to Islam was later removed from the organization’s website.
John Maguire (a convert affiliated with the University of Ottawa MSA), Awso Peshdary, and Khadar Khalib (both affiliated with the Algonquin College MSA), all fled to join ISIS. John was allegedly killed in battle, but his death is unconfirmed. Peshdary and Khalib are further accused of financing Islamist efforts, and Khalib was actively being hunted by the RCMP and CSIS (the Canadian equivalents of the FBI and the CIA, respectively).
Qutbi al-Mahdi, associated with the McGill University MSA, was the head of foreign intelligence state department of Sudan in the 1990’s. Serving under President Omar al-Bashir, who faces an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Darfur crisis, he is alleged to have helped facilitate war crimes.
Omar Hammami, alias Abu Mansoor al-Amriki, was the president of the University of South Alabama’s MSA. He was arrested for aiding al-Shahab.
Randall “Ismail” Royer also fought alongside the Mujahedeen in Bosnia’s civil war, and worked for the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), and later became the President of the Muslim Student Association at American University. Additionally, Donald Surratt, a converted muslim, founded an MSA at Prince George’s Community College, and attended events like “paintball games” (as hosted by the Muslim Student Associations’ alias, the Muslim American Society).
According to counter-terrorism expert Daniel Pipes, “Muslim Student Association president, K.M. Ahmed Subhani, expressed surprise at the arrest of Shah, an active member of the Muslim community. ‘The closest I would say he’s ever been to a firearm is a paintball gun.'”
Terror experts believe that paintball games are a subversive means of training for Islamic jihad.
Chiheb Esseghaier, of the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec) MSA, was arrested for the failed 2013 Via Rail bomb plot, the first known al-Qaeda plot against Canada.
Ferid Imam, associated with the University of Manitoba MSA (and ex-president, according to succeeding MSA President Shariq Kidwai), alongside Maiwand Yar and Muhanad Al-Farekh, are wanted in Canada and the U.S. on terrorism charges for training others to blow up subway cars in New York City, an Afghani car bombing, and for supporting al-Qaeda. Deported from Pakistan to the US, they faced terrorism charges in a New York Courts.
Imam Jamil al Amin, a speaker at a 1994 MSA event in Toronto, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment for the shooting death of a local cop.
Ramy Zamzam, a member of the D.C. Five, was allegedly en route to join the Jaish-e-Muhammeds terrorist group, targeting American soldiers in Afghanistan. He was sentenced by a Pakinstani court in 2010. He also served as the President of the Muslim Students Association D.C. Council, and was considered the leader of the radical group. They are currently in prison awaiting their lawyer’s appeal.
Ramy’s mentor, Mustafa Abu Maryam (real name: Erick Jamal Hendricks) was arrested by the FBI on charges of allegedly recruiting for ISIS. He claims to have been an informant, which implies he admits to the charges, but is questioning the intent.
Sami Omar al-Hussayen, a Saudi Arabian student at the University of Idaho, and former President of the Muslim Student Association, was arrested on suspicion of using his studies as a cover for jihad (a common refrain), as well as fundraising $300,000 for jihadi causes. He was deported to Saudi Arabia. Bassem K. Khafagi was arrested alongside him, having also attend the University of Idaho, having also been a member of the Muslim Students Association, and having also sought out radical clerics in the name of jihad. Both were part of the Islamic Assembly of North America (IANA), which operated as a front organization of Jihadi terror. Khafagi established IANA/ISNA in 1993.
Ziyad Khaleel, president of the Columbia College (of Missouri)’s MSA, was also a representative for the Islamic Association of Palestine – a Hamas-operated front organization. He was also implicated in owning what federal agents referred to as “the jihad phone” (for Osama Bin Laden), given its usage in planning the 1998 US Embassy Bombings.
Zachary Chesser, also known as Abu Talhah al-Amrikee, was arrested for not only aiding Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab (in addition to contactin Anwar al-Awlaki, but for also threatening the South Park creators for depicting Mohammed He was also a member of his Oakton high school MSA, as well as his George Mason University MSA. According to the Center for Islamic Pluralism, “His wife, Proscovia Nzabanita, did not accompany him because her mother had previously confiscated his wife’s passport, preventing Chesser from taking her with him to join Al-Shabab via Kenya late last year. Chesser himself had been placed on the U.S. government’s no-fly list.”.
Anwar al-Awlaki, drone-striked in Yemen by the CIA for his role in inciting jihadi terror globally in his coveted role as an influential al-Queda Imam, served as the president of the Colorado State University’s Muslim Student Association while studying engineering. He was also the chaplain of the George Washington University MSA in 2001
Notable terrorists influenced by him include the Tsarnaev Brothers (for the Boston Bombing – of which Dzhokhar was apparently a member of their MSA), Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad (for his shooting in an Army recruitment center – and also a member of the Tennessee State University MSA), Major Nidal Hasan (of the Fort Hood, Texas shootings), Farouk Abdul-Mutallab (for the Underwear Bombing), members from the July 2005 London Bombings, members from the Toronto 18 plot.
Ibrahim Aboud, of which the “Toronto 18” charges against him were stayed (which doesn’t mean he’s innocent, it just means there wasn’t enough evidence to convict), found extremely sympathetic friends in Muhammad-Ali Jabbar (RSU president and ex-Muslim Students’ Association VP), as well as (at the time) Ryerson MSA President Waleed Elsayed!
Such activist groups feign ignorance, “Islam and terrorism have nothing to do with one another.”, but I think we might even need to start fresh and investigate the “interfaith” organizations as well. Mohammed Atta, an Egyptian hijacker who helped carry out the 9/11 attacks, wanted to recruit more members for his jihad through Christian/Muslim faith “bridging” organizations:
When Atta arrived in Germany, he appeared religious, but not fanatically so. This would change, especially as his tendency to assert leadership became increasingly pronounced. According to Binalshibh, as early as 1995 Atta sought to organize a Muslim student association in Hamburg. In the fall of 1997, he joined a working group at the Quds mosque in Hamburg, a group designed to bridge the gap between Muslims and Christians. Atta proved a poor bridge, however, because of his abrasive and increasingly dogmatic personality. But among those who shared his beliefs, Atta stood out as a decisionmaker. Atta’s friends during this period remember him as charismatic, intelligent, and persuasive, albeit intolerant of dissent.
It is with great irony that I acknowledge the study’s title for Part 4, “Who Are Terrorists?”. The byline? A reference to a quote from Anwar al-Awlaki, “They are as American as Apple Pie.” In that vein, for all the reasons listed above, it is clear now that under previous government administrations, Anwar has succeeded in his dream, for “jihad has become as American as Apple Pie.”
However, this isn’t just relegated to one organization; funded heavily by Islamic banking in general, it’s an ever-evolving underground network. According to FrontPageMag:
On December 19, 2002, the department of justice indicted a leader of an Islamic militant group, his wife, and five brothers who worked at a Texas computer on charges of trafficking with terrorist states Libya and Syria. Four of the brothers were arrested in Texas by federal anti-terrorism agents. The indictments named Mousa Abu Marzook, a Hamas leader and his wife, both believed to be in the Middle East [Marzook is also believed to have run Hamas’s terror network while studying in America as a postdoctoral student, in addition to sowing the American support system currently in place]. One of those who were arrested was company Vice President Ghassan Elashi, 48, who was also identified as a director of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which was shut down in December 2001 after the Treasury Department accused the self-described charity of being a Hamas front and seized its assets. Also arrested were Bayan Elashi, 47, Basman Elashi and Hazim Elashi, 41.
Congressional investigators say they are also looking into another case nixed by Holder’s DOJ, again involving CAIR co-founder Omar Ahmad — to be indicted, allegedly, on obstruction of justice charges in the case of Ahmadullah Niazi. Niazi is a California man who had been charged with lying about his terrorist ties before intervention by political appointees in the DOJ. The charges against Niazi were later dropped after problems developed with the FBI’s confidential informant.
MSA solicited donations for the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, whose assets the U.S. government seized in December 2001 because that organization was giving financial support to the terrorist group Hamas. MSA also has strong ties to the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), a Saudi-based Islamic organization with chapters in 57 countries, including the US chapter, which was founded by Osama Bin Laden’s nephew. WAMY promotes jihad and anti-semitism and has raised funds for Hamas.
The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, after it was forcibly shut down, was reinvented as “KindHearts for Charitable Humanitarian Development” in 2002. This organization was also shut down, in 2011, after the US Treasury started investigating alleged ties to terror networks.
In Stephen Schwartz’s testimony to the US Senate’s Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security:
Shia and other non-Wahhabi Muslim community leaders estimate that 80 percent of American mosques out of a total ranging between an official estimate of 1,200 and an unofficial figure of 4-6,000 are under Wahhabi control … Wahhabi control over mosques means control of property, buildings, appointment of imams, training of imams, content of preaching including faxing of Friday sermons from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and of literature distributed in mosques and mosque bookstores, notices on bulletin boards, and organizational and charitable solicitation … The main organizations that have carried out this campaign are the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which originated in the Muslim Students’ Association of the U.S. and Canada (MSA), and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
The disturbing thing is that in strategic warfare, there’s always two threats to be wary of; the overt threat, and the covert threat. By now it should be clear that Muslim Student Societies have always been the covert threat, a means of destabilizing the very infrastructure modern-day America rests upon.
The covert threat? The arguable precursor to Soros-funded Black Lives Matter, the Jamaat ul-Fuqra movement:
Since 1980, at least a dozen Jamaat ul-Fuqra members have been convicted for terrorist activities, including conspiracy to commit murder, firebombings, and gun smuggling. Jamaat ul-Fuqra members are also suspected in 10 unsolved assassinations and 17 bombings that have occurred since Gilani established his organization when he spent time at a Brooklyn, NY mosque in 1980.
